The first site of the trail is a Bronze Age burial cairn a mile from the road.
It is on the left-hand side and is a prominent feature. Cup and Ring marked
stones are located around the sheepfold, reachable from the passing place on
the right a short distance from the burial cairn.
Next on the trail there are also the remains of a chambered cairn known as the Kings Cairn, which is estimated to be about 4000 years old. At this point in the trail, keen walkers can walk upstream from the metal bridge to the Moor. A circular route can be taken by crossing the river and walking through the forest track. This is approximately 4 miles in length.
The next point of interest on this trail is the remains of Nether Bow village. According to 17th century maps a Church also existed at this site. Continue along the Aqueduct to the next dam and then return.
